Turning garden sheds spooky

While stories of ghosts sightings willmake the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, there is a fun sideto all things paranormal which gives us a great excuse to dress upthe kids (and ourselves), our houses and even garden sheds  –Halloween!

This spooky day is also the perfect time to share your ghost stories and chilling experiences with local trick-or-treaters. But before you start, make sure you set the scene.

Traditionally, people dress their houses up with carved pumpkins and other halloween paraphernalia, butif you want to do something different, give your garden shed a makeover, and with the right lighting, you will have the perfect place to lure unsuspecting trick-or-treaters!

Most people’s garden sheds are full of tools and other garden accessories, so you will probably need to shift a few things and find them a temporary home.

Garden sheds are perfect for this kind of thing as they are rugged in appearance, and by adding a few candles (with caution), you can create the perfect atmosphere. Most garden sheds have walls that are formed with overlapping timber, which will allow shadows to form and with the flickering candle light you’re already half way there.

Next, add some scary props, placing them strategically around your garden shed, including plastic spiders and shredded cotton wool, while draping black material on the walls. If you can get hold of a spooky soundtrack, this will add to the atmosphere and make a big difference.

Now simply place a chair at the back of the garden shed, dress up and get into character. Finally, ask an assistant to guide the trick-or-treaters out into the garden. Now it’s up to you to choose your story!
